We are not only inspired by Congo. We are Congolese.
Maison DORAMS is a Congolese high jewellery house.
Not a brand that borrowed from a continent. Not a designer who fell in love with an aesthetic. A house built from inside the culture, by a woman of that culture, for the women who share it.
Our founder, Doriane Kanguvu, is Muluba. In Congo, no one people is worth more than another. Our pieces reflect that; named in Lingála and Tshiluba, drawn from tradition.
Gold was never decoration
In Congo, women did not wear gold to only be beautiful. They wore it to be untouchable.
Gold was memory. It was proof. It was wealth carried on the body because it could not be taken while they slept. Our grandmothers understood something the world is only now catching up to; that what a woman wears can be the last thing she owns and the first thing she passes down.
Maison DORAMS continues that language. Every piece is made in 18k solid gold. Not plated. Not filled. Not vermeil.
Solid; because that is what our grandmothers trusted, and they were right.
Made once. For one woman.
We hold no inventory. We keep nothing on a shelf.
A DORAMS piece does not exist until it is commissioned. When you say yes, the gold is prepared, the stone is selected, the pattern is engraved, and your name is written on a certificate that belongs to no one else. Six to eight weeks later, it arrives; made once, for you.
This is not a wait. This is what it means to own something real.
